MAPLE LEAF LOUNGE
Location: Vancouver, BC
Client: Air Canada
Architect: Gustavson Wylie Architects (GWA)

GWA was engaged to renovate all three Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympics, along with a complete renovation of the Los Angeles Lounge. New materials and lighting were introduced and all elements of the lounge were refreshed. Passenger feedback after the renovation confirmed the modifications have greatly improved customer experience. Later, GWA worked with Air Canada to create a new experience at the Maple Leaf Lounge in the Vancouver International Terminal. The existing lounge has been doubled in size by expanding the main level westward and taking space directly above. The new lounge is 1,250 square meters in size, seating 258 customers, and includes an internal feature staircase and elevator for vertical circulation between the levels.
