FLUOR

Location: Vancouver, BC

Size: 90,000 sq. ft.

Client: Fluor Corporation

Architect: Gustavson Wylie Architects (GWA)

Fluor’s Mining and Minerals Division occupied 2 separate buildings on multiple floors and was looking to amalgamate their offices into one at 1333 Melville Street, The Stack, in the City of Vancouver.

Fluor required full professional architectural services to help layout their new office space
over 4 floors for a total of 90,000 sq. ft. The challenge was their lease at the Arthur Erikson Plaza will run out by the end of 2023, and construction must stop no later than December 1, 2023, to allow their staff to move over to the new facility. GWA was engaged due to our experience in delivering under difficult circumstances, and aggressive schedules. GWA recommended a Construction Management approach to take advantage of long lead items and to engage a GC to order fan coils, transformers, and lighting fixtures up front to meet their schedule. With our extensive experience in commercial interiors, we were able to obtain both schematic and design development sign-off within 3 months and went in for Building Permit immediately after DD sign-off. The result is the release of our BP within 4 weeks utilizing the City of Vancouver’s Field Review Process, and construction will begin shortly.
