FIRE HALL

Location: North Cowichan, Duncan, BC

Size: 14,000 sf (1300 sm)

Client: North Cowichan Fire Department

Architect: Gustavson Wylie Architects (GWA)

Based on Gustavson Wylie Architects' track record of bringing Projects in on Budget and on time, the Maple Bay Fire Hall Technical Committee went from a Design-Build proposal where the Contractor takes the lead on Design, to a consultant led Design- Bid-Build proposal to assist in the escalating cost of construction. The result is an extremely efficient 14,000 sq. ft., two-story Firehall incorporating four truck bays, a firefighter’s lounge and a multi-purpose room acting as the community center. Since the new Fire Hall is to be a replacement for the existing Fire Hall, Gustavson Wylie Architects painstakingly re-established the Community’s Fire Truck Museum into the Design to maintain a part of this heritage.
