Location: South Surrey, BC

Client: Chartwell Senior Housing Reit

Architect: Gustavson Wylie Architects (GWA)

This project is a 200,000-square-foot addition to the existing Crescent Gardens Retirement Community in South Surrey, BC. The development consists of two 100,000-square-foot buildings, linked by a skybridge. The projects contains extensive amenity areas, commercial areas and senior housing, consisting of independent living, assisted living and complex care. The Fraser Health Authority chose the design to provide an additional 30 unit assisted living suites in the South Surrey/White Rock area. The development is one of the first continuum of care retirement communities founded in British Columbia by CPAC (Care) Holdings Ltd, which is one of the pioneering developers of similar concepts, now Chartwell REIT. The project is often seen by many in the Retirement Care community as the model for design guidance. The development involved a complex coordination of land that required approvals from all levels of government, including MOT and DFO.
